HomeUnion® Names the Best Beach Town Bargains

Thinking of living in a home on the coast all year-round? Consider these affordable areas.

IRVINE, Calif., July 26, 2016 – HomeUnion®, an online residential real estate investment management firm, has released a list of zip codes with the most affordable beach homes in the United States. The zip codes in this study are coastal communities with a significant inventory of single-family rental (SFR) homes and below-average crime. Where applicable, zip codes on the ocean or open water were favored over zip codes on bays or inlets.

beachcities_venturacalifornia“As people across the county embark on their summer vacations, we wanted to highlight coastal communities with the most affordable housing and rents,” explains Steve Hovland, director of research for HomeUnion®. “In case vacationers ever wondered how much it would cost to buy or invest in a home on the coast year-round, we put together this list, which also includes median household income in each area.

“Since home prices have remained low across the Midwest for the past few years, it’s no surprise that Two Rivers, Wisc., on the shores of Lake Michigan tops our list,” Hovland continues. “But there are still plenty of seaside bargains to be found throughout Florida, along the Atlantic Ocean, in expensive housing markets like suburban New York City, and even on the Pacific Ocean in California.”
