Employment growth in Baton Rouge will nearly double the national average this year as payrolls grow close to 3 percent. Job gains in this metro are led by the construction sector, which is typically a strong driver of rental demand. Many building jobs are transitory or unsteady, encouraging a significant share of these workers to avoid purchasing homes. One of the most significant construction projects under way is the $60 million e ort to widen Interstate 10, which will improve the quality of life and commuting times for residents in the Ascension Parish submarket.
