Why Invest in Greenville, SC
Greenville is the sixth largest municipality in South Carolina. It is ranked highly on Forbes 2015 lists for Job Growth and Best Places for Businesses and Careers. The region is sustained by a wide collection of industries that range from technology to aviation. Michelin, AVX Corporation, and CertusBank are headquartered in Greenville; Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, General Electric, and 3M also have sizable facilities in the area. While South Carolina is no longer the international leader of the textile industry it was through 1970’s and 1980s, a number of those positions are returning to the state, specifically to Greenville, thanks to the relocation of Chinese manufacturer Keer. The area is also friendly to entrepreneurs; Greenville made NerdWallet’s and Entrepreneur’s 2015 list ranking the Top Small Cities to Start a Business in the US.
Southern charm, a health-conscious culture, and the family-friendly atmosphere aren’t the only factors drawing families to the region. Greenville has a strong arts scene; it boasts several major event spaces for performing arts and galleries and was even named one of the “Top 100 Arts Small Towns in the United States.” Several colleges and universities also call this region home, including Furman University, Greenville Technical College, and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine’s satellite campus. These factors all drive population growth and rental demand, making it a strong contender for investors looking to diversify into SFRs.
