Texas Investment Homes Move the Fastest on HomeUnion®’s Platform

HomeUnion® Research Services put together a list of the 50 fastest-moving zip codes for investment housing on HomeUnion®’s platform, and major urban areas of Texas claimed nearly every spot. We used median days on market to determine the popularity of a zip code. In addition to the Texas metros of Dallas and Austin, Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta also managed to find their way on the list.

“The 50-fastest moving zip codes highlight the shortage of mid-tier housing inventory in desirable metros with strong job growth,” says Steve Hovland, director of research for HomeUnion®. “These hot zip codes tend to be more related to a metro and price point rather than a single area.”

“At first glance, there are some trends emerging:  Most of the zip codes contain several entry-level homes or homes priced at below the metro median. These are prime areas first-time buyers, as well as single-family rental investors,” adds Hovland.

It’s no surprise that Dallas zip codes dominate the list of fastest-moving zip codes, given the continued economic growth of the region. The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex has one of the strongest job markets in the U.S., which is the primary rental demand driver, and explains why some single-family rentals are staying on the market for less than two weeks. Dallas/Fort Worth should lead the nation in total new jobs in 2017, adding over 100,000 this year.
