Not only is Chicago the third-largest MSA in the country, a world leader in the finance industry, and home to the Cubs, it’s also a great market for single family rentals. More than 41,000 jobs are expected to be created before year-end, many of them will be in the construction industry with even more local jobs coming after the construction is finished. Here are some of the highlights of the market:
- Construction of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in the McCormick Place Entertainment District is expected to create 7,400 construction and 2,500 full-time jobs.
- Sprint announced plans to add 750 employees in Chicago by the end of 2016, joining the 300 employees who came on board earlier this year to upgrade the local digital network
- Renovation of Chicago’s 100-year old Wrigley Field began in October 2014 and will continue over the next four years, supporting 2,100 local jobs.
- The proposed Chicago Midway Airport upgrade project is expected to create 1,000 temporary construction and 700 permanent concession jobs by 2019.
